CITY SO REAL, a new documentary series from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Steve James, premieres on National Geographic Films and Hulu October 29th. Kevin Shaw worked as an additional cinematographer on the project.

September 2020

LET THE LITTLE LIGHT SHINE (formerly known as A Place to Learn) is #ITVSFunded. The film looks at a high achieving elementary school in Chicago that's a beacon for Black children, until gentrification threatens its closure.

FIRELIGHT MEDIA asked me to write about my experiences participating in their documentary lab fellowship. Here's what I wrote: "Feeling Empowered and Focused on Checking Imbalance within Documentary Filmmaking."

A PLACE TO LEARN (working title), a new documentary film examining gentrification through the lens of education, won a International Documentary Association Pare Lorentz Grant to support the production of this upcoming project.

January 2020

The Hollywood Reporter calls CITY SO REAL "exceptional." Steve James' four-hour docuseries examining Chicago at a crossroads premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Kevin Shaw was an additional cinematographer on the project.
